mission

The objectives of the openbiomaps project are to maintain an open and free biological database service and to develop biological data collection and management software to support effective biodiversity data management. The openbiomaps project thus provides a stable background for open and free biological databases, specifically for scientists and conservationists, and its customizable toolset facilitates easy access and management of data.

Latest news

As a result of Ecollab Kft's development, a new version of the OpenBioMaps field mobile application is being created. The new application will be available on both iPhone and Android phones. The new application follows the appearance of the current app and all current functions can be used in a similar way, but of course there are also changes. The app has been enhanced with many small new user features and a completely new internal operation, which was done partly to increase stability and reliability, and partly to meet the requirements of changes in phones and their operating systems. The app is now available for testers!

The application provides an interface for managing camera trap images and linking them to OpenBioMaps databases. During use, wildlife camera images should be uploaded to a specially created OpenBioMaps project, which is capable of processing images, sorting out empty images, and recognizing numerous animal species in the images. The application performs a simple analysis of the selected and tagged images, the output of which is suitable for uploading to a openbiomaps database. Tagged images can be downloaded individually or in groups from the project or transferred to another data storage interface.
